Nick Evans gets a bit embarrassed when asked how many bicycles he owns. It’s somewhere between ten and twenty, he admits reluctantly.
The managing partner of Active Partners, the private equity firm, is a fanatical cyclist, pedalling about 125 miles a week — “I love it. It’s very liberating and gets the endorphins going. I think the bicycle is a remarkable invention” — but in his case it is more than simply a private passion. Cycling has made money for him personally and for investors in funds run by Active.
