  • We know there has been a lot of bad news this week. Here's some good news to lighten your weekend, just a bit.
  • There are now enough solar panels installed worldwide to generate 1 terawatt of electricity. This could power all of Europe combined. However, energy storage mechanisms do need to be more efficient.
  • The US announced it will be issuing gender neutral passports. People will be allowed to choose โ€œXโ€ as a gender option on passport applications. The move is one of support for the non-binary community.
  • In Tanzania, a new class of bed nets kills mosquitoes which have become resistant to traditional insecticides. This in turn has led to malaria infections amongst children almost half.
  • The European Union has revealed a new strategy in which clothes, furniture and smartphones sold in Europe must be longer-lasting and easier to repair.
  • Finally, last month a road in London closed for 3 weeks to allow migrating toads to cross on their annual migration, preventing them from being squished.
