• British-Iranian national, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, could be freed in days under a deal where the UK pays £400m in debt to Iran; she had served 5 years in Iranian prison for “secret” charges.
• Denmark has unveiled a plan to ban the sale of cigarettes and nicotine products to citizens born after 2010. The ban is aimed at preventing the next generation from touching tobacco.
• The son of Turkmenistan’s autocrat leader, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, has won the presidential election by a sizable margin - winning 73% of the votes cast.
• US basketball star, Brittney Griner, is being held by Russian authorities after they allegedly discovered hashish oil in her luggage. She is known to be the greatest female basketball player.
• The US Federal Reserve is expected to follow other central banks and raise rates by a quarter of a percentage. Inflation is at its highest rate in 40 years.
