With the coronavirus variants showing no sign of relenting, is it time for booster shots?

  • While many countries are still to get done with the first set of Covid19 vaccinations, a lot of the developed nations are already testing booster vaccine shots.
  • For now, it is being administered to a limited set of the population and only if there has been a six-month (for AstraZeneca/Moderna/Pfizer) and two-month (J&J) gap since their last vaccination.
  • But are these booster shots safe? Are they tweaked versions of existing vaccines or the same? Have there been any studies about the efficacy?
