• Methane gas — generated by agriculture and cattle farming — is one of the most potent greenhouse gases. A little methane gas can cause a lot of warming.
• So it was a bit of good news when more than 100 countries pledged to cut global methane emissions by 30 percent from 2020 levels by the end of the decade.
• But as often with such pacts, the details are complicated, and the agreement is non-binding. That means there’s much uncertainty about whether nations will follow through.
